Friday, September 13 day 13 of year 19

It's the first Purple Friday of the season!  For those of you who don't live in the Baltimore area, Purple Friday happens during football season when the whole city comes together to prep for the game on Sunday.  Over the years I've been collecting Ravens gear just for these days.  This spring I picked up this women's fit Under Armour polo at a yard sale.  Yep, I said yard sale!  No rips, no tears, no stinky arm pits...perfect!
I paired it with khakis from Lands End.  I have five pairs of these pants; two shades of khaki, grey, navy and red are members of my collection.  They have the ability to be dressy or casual depending on the top and shoes.  I know you'll see them again on this blog.
I don't think this outfit would be comfortable for an entire day of work, but maybe I can borrow his championship ring hat for next week's Purple Friday?
GO RAVENS!

Thursday, September 12, day 12 of year 19

In honor of Lily Pulitzer....
Lily Pulitzer has always managed to combine the greatest colors and patterns.  None of these pieces are hers, they are far too plain, but the colors could be from any number of her past collections.  These pants are from The Loft and I've had them for a number of years.  They fit perfectly and the color is awesome.  I've paired them with a number of different colors and patterns but the pink and white combo is my favorite.  The cardigan is from Target.  I love the ruffle on the front and the 3/4 sleeves are perfect for the crazy weather we've been having.
I got the scarf last year in Rehoboth, DE.  My girlfriends (all classy teachers) and I took a weekend to attend the Sea Witch Festival.  https://www.beach-fun.com/sea-witch-halloween-fiddlers-festival.html  It was awesome.  Everything in town was decorated.  They have a parade with every costume imaginable and each store puts out treats so kids can trick-or-treat before or after the parade.  It's an awesome event and if it hadn't been for Hurricane Sandy, we would have stayed a day longer.
On the boardwalk in RBDE before the winds from Sandy blew us away.  Me with Ginger Cain and Anessa Musick.
Me, Anessa Musick and Rena Simon
I liked the pastel colors of the skulls.  To me, I can wear it more through out the year and it's not just a Halloween-only scarf.  All together this is one of my favorite outfits.

Wednesday, September 11, day 11 of year 19

Today is September 11.  It's been 12 years since that horrible day but I can still remember every detail.  I was teaching 8th grade Language Arts at Pikesville Middle.  I was proud of us as a staff for how we came together to keep the students calm during the uncertainty of the day.  The victims and their families will always be in my heart.

My outfit for today is one of my favorites.  Both the top and bottom are from Vogue Revisited here in Baltimore.  The top is a brand from Target and the skirt is Ann Taylor.  The top has a hidden side zipper which makes it fitted.  It also has 2 buttons on the front but it's the ruffles that really make it different.  I think it's a great example of being able to find something well made at Target.
The linen skirt has a drop waist with a side zipper and hook and eye closure.  There are pleats all the way around and it's lined.  The lining does it's job of smoothing out your undergarments so that they aren't noticeable.  My favorite detail is the black gross grain ribbon that circles the waist and ends in a perfect bow.  I know DVF has an anti-bow rule but I think it looks great on this skirt.  If I had found this skirt new in the Ann Taylor store I probably would not have purchased it because of the price.  But finding it at the consignment store for less than $10 was a no-brainer.
The pink bamboo bangle is from a store in Rehoboth, DE.  The shoes are the same ones I featured in week one.

Tuesday, September 10, day 10 of year 19

Today's dress is a hand-me-down from my sister-in-law Jaime.  One weekend she declared that she had way too many dresses and brought over the ones she was ready to part with.  This dress has a nice shape even though there are no buttons or zippers.  The seams are sewn on an angle which gives it shape.  The heavy weight material also makes it hang evenly without clinging.
My favorite detail is the small keyhole and knot in the top center.  Because of it though I need to wear either a bandeau bra or a camisole top.  In early fall I wear the bandeau bra but as it gets cooler I wear the camisole and if needed a black cardigan.  The black shoes are the same ones I featured in week one.
