Button down with snaps and rockin' cords

This button down is from American Eagle Outfitters via my sister-in-law Becky www.bisforbecky.com  Instead of buttons there are pearl covered snaps.  The cords are from Talbots.  They are a brownish maroon color.  I like the boot cut style and the fact that they have lycra in them.  On this day I paired them with my short Aigner boots.
I have to give a nod to my 10 year old son Thomas who was so proud of his photo bomb.  Thanks to his fabulous art teacher, he has turned in to quite the photographer and Instagram junkie.  I bought myself a Canon DSL camera a couple weeks ago and he immediately asked if he could have my old Nikon.  He has also become pretty stylish and classy with his outfits this year thanks to my "collared shirt" rule.  I told him that since he was in 5th grade this year he had to step it up in the fashion department.  I've been trying to get pictures of his outfits for the blog but he won't cooperate.

 Nautical Wednesday

This is one of my most comfortable outfits!  The denim shirt is J. Crew and if you've read my other posts you've seen it already.  As I said before, it goes with EVERYTHING!  The pants are from Lands End.
They are slightly different then my other Lands End pants.  They have a wider leg and are longer.  A couple years ago I injured my foot running and my podiatrist recommended I get a pair of Dansko shoes for work.  If you don't know what Dansko's are, they are a clog with a fairly high heel.  They make my feet feel awesome when I wear them but require a longer pant length.  I've seen some teachers wear them with dresses and leggings but I can't pull that off.
The scarf is from Nordstrom Rack and its been featured on my blog before.  Its lightweight and perfect for fall.  Another classy outfit!

 Red, tan and plaid

This outfit is head to toe Talbots.  You might recognize the red shirt as I've worn it already this year with a variety of different outfits.  I bought it originally to wear with these wool plaid pants but found that it goes with several other outfits.
The jacket is cotton with just a small amount of lycra.  It fits perfectly and the sleeves have the option of being at this length or being rolled to be a bit shorter.  There's a small hook that when closed creates a perfect waist line.  The ruffle is an added bonus that makes the jacket unique.

Even though the pants are a traditional and conservative plaid, they have an updated boot-cut style.  The waist band is a little low for work which makes me self conscious each time I bend down to help a student or shelve a book.  They are wool but are not lined which makes them perfect for fall.  The length requires a heel so I wear my Aigner short boots and the outfit is complete.

Stars and Lace

This sheer stars and lace shirt is from Target.  I bought it several years ago for a double date night (with my husband :).  It's an unusual find for Target and it's not something that I would normally wear but it was all of $6 so I decided to give it a try.  I've been seeing lots of lace in magazines for this season but this is as much as I feel comfortable wearing.  I've never been a huge fan of lace because I could never make it not look old-lady-ish.  But the star pattern brings some youth to this top.  Because it is sheer, I wear a black camisole with it.

I bought these pants two weeks ago at Vogue Revisited in Roland Park www.voguerevisited.com  They are a different cut than my other black pants and the material is also heavier and has a pattern to it.  The boot cut style is flattering and they go well with my Stewart Weitzman slides.

It's a comfortable classy Monday.

Pink and Grey
These grey pants are from, of course, Talbots!  They have a double tab closure and no pockets.  They have a nice slim fit.  The pink cardigan is from Target.  Earlier this year I wore it open and over my summer outfits but now that it's fall, I wear it alone.

To define my waist I added my favorite gold belt.  Simple but classy.

Pink and black for Wednesday!

Today's blouse is from Macy's.  I've had it for several seasons.  It is silk with fitted cuffs, detail on the hem and of course the rosettes around the collar.  The sleeves are sheer but the bodice is lined so it's appropriate for work.  It's tunic style makes it very comfortable.
The black pants are from The Limited.  They are from my sister-in-law Becky www.bisforbecky.com
They have a side zipper and a wide waist band.  The length is perfect to wear with a variety of heel lengths.
These shoes are from Stewart Weitzman.  I absolutely love them.  It's not the style that makes them great but the details.  I got them as a hand-me-down.  I've worn them so often that I've had to have the liners and heels replaced.  I called Stewart Weitzman to see if they still made them but of course they don't.  As long as I've got a good "shoe guy" I can make them last!

Argyle!

This argyle vest from Talbots is one of my fall favorites.  The material is so soft and comfortable.  To keep the vest looking classy I pair it with a white button down.  Some days I wear brown khakis but today I chose blue.
The shoes are from Nordstrom Rack.  They are super soft and I love the detail on the toes.  They look great with jeans or khakis.  I've had them for several seasons and they are starting to show their wear.  They are getting stretched out and tend to flop around when I wear them.  I don't want to think about having to replace them because I know I'll never find another pair as awesome as these.

It's time for Fall!

I spent a couple hours on Saturday switching my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter.  I said good-bye to my shorts and linen pants and welcome back to my winter weight pants and skirts.  It was also time to pack away the flip-flops and bring back the booties and boots.

Today's outfit features brown pants from Talbots.  I know that I've blogged about my love of Talbots pants before.  These feature a double tab closure so the waist band lays nice and flat.  They have pockets and a permanent crease so they always look classy.
I've had this top for a number of years now and can't remember where I got it.  It's polyester so it's "silky" but I can throw it in the washing machine.  I know I have said that you shouldn't wear the belt that comes with the shirt or dress but this is my exception.  Because the material is "silky" none of my other belts stay in place which makes me look frumpy when they fall to the wrong spot on my waist.  So I wear the matching belt with this shirt because there are tiny loops to hold it in place.
This picture shows the length of the pants and the toes of the booties that I wear with them.  The booties are a must because the pants are to the floor.  Not a bad outfit for a Monday!
